Merle's Record Rack Turns 50!
On August 11, 2012 Merle’s Record Rack will be celebrating their 50th year anniversary. Do you remember the piece of music you bought decades ago? Chances are that if it was an 8 track, a vinyl album, a cassette or maybe even reel to reel, Merle’s Record Rack sold it. So if you would like to step back in time for just a little while, you are invited to help celebrate Merle’s “Nifty Fifty” Anniversary celebration.

First Selectman James Zeoli said, “Michael moved his business to Orange in 2003 and he selected a very good location for his particular business. We are happy to see that his business has succeeded over these many years.”
Merle’s Record Rack was started in 1962 and it has survived through many technological changes. Michael Papa, who purchased the store in 1984 said, “Merles has endured and flourished all these years by changing with the times, but the one thing that we remained committed to is customer service.” If you are looking for a particular song or album, chances are Merle’s will have it and if they don’t, Michael Papa knows where to find it.
Musicians of all ages and genres will perform in the store throughout the day, providing a soundtrack to this musical voyage. Merle’s has changed to stay alive; they still thrive throughout the decades while maintaining that small town record store feel.
