Property Activity and Vacancy Rates (December, 2016)

The Town of Orange had a productive year in terms of business growth, as 17 new businesses opened their doors, 10 businesses have closed, and there were 3 in town relocations.  A few of these exciting transactions are:

  • The Tractor Supply Company purchased land on Indian River Road to build their store.  The company has more than 1,550 stores in 49 states.  The store opened in September at 273 Indian River Road.
  •  ShopRite opened its doors in October at 259 Bull Hill Lane (the former Stop & Shop location).  Owner Harry Garafalo owns and operates ShopRite stores in East Haven, Hamden, Milford, Stratford and West Haven.
  • The former Builder’s Square property, located at 260 Bull Hill Lane, has been sold and the grounds and the building have been cleaned up.  The 84,000 square feet building is ready for lease and can be subdivided.
  • In the Industrial Sector, we lost Fulfillment Works but in November we gained Bunzl.  Located at 181 Marsh Hill Road, Bunzl supplies a range of products including outsourced food packaging, disposable supplies and cleaning/safety products to food processors, supermarkets, non-food retailers, convenience stores, etc.
