Demolition Is First Step to Creation The United Illuminating Company took its first steps toward development in Orange with the demolition of the former National Amusements Showcase Cinemas at 100 Marsh Hill Road, Orange. The United Illuminating Company Green Demolition initiative will enable the company to receive Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) certification for the new Operations Center proposed for the site. The demolition process separates all of the components of a building including concrete, carpeting, gypsum and steel and re-uses these materials in new building development.
Demolition is expected to be completed by May 25, 2009. Construction of the proposed 230,000 square foot Operations Center is expected to be completed by Mid-2012.
